We start our day at the weekly farmers market where the locals bring their produce - from in-season vegetables and fruits to cheeses, honey, nuts and pulses, fresh fish and, of course, the much loved Cretan snails which are delicious cooked with rosemary.
Here we will be accompanied by our chef who will help you pick out some local produce for us to take back to the kitchen, where we will enjoy a cookery lesson on the basics of Cretan cuisine and also how to make several popular, easy-to-replicate-at-home dishes.
As we prepare lunch, we will choose a selection of wines from Crete and take them from our wine cellar to taste and enjoy with our meal.
As we tuck into our Cretan lunch, prepared together, wines will be brought to the table, selected specifically for the dishes we make and described for you as you taste. Of course its important we make the effort to finish all the wines which always makes for a fun and sometimes lengthy lunch, you may start showing signs of your ancient Greek DNA by the end of lunchtime and show this directly by heading off for your late afternoon siesta to recharge!
