In Crete, as well as Greece and generally other Mediterranean countries, cats and often dogs are left to breed freely, strays being regarded as natural co-habitants to human settlements. The lack of harsh winters and the abundance of food especially around hotels and restaurants during the Crete holidays season, makes it easy for them to survive outdoors, their greatest problem being the lack of medical care and road traffic that kills many of them.
Although the problem is far to be solved in the next few years, we are doing the best we can to save the strays around our homes. We have adopted dogs and cats and we are constantly helping animals in need by healing them with the help of local veterinaries, fostering and finally finding forever homes for them. If you would like to contribute, no matter how little, our animal friends will be forever grateful!
